Lawn Care

It depends on your situation. Here in Calgary and surrounding areas we get a lot of sunshine, which means lawns need regular watering to stay healthy.

💧 New sod: Water twice a day at an output equivalent to one inch across the whole lawn.
🌱 Established lawn: Water once a day at the same rate, ideally at the same time each day.

You should be fertilizing 2 to 3 times every year. We recommend Bluegrass Fertilizer, available at Bluegrass Nursery and Sod — it's worth the trip out to Balzac. While Scotts and other brands work, Bluegrass is our top pick for the best results.

We strongly recommend weekly mowing. When you mow bi-weekly, the lawn has too much time to grow tall — and when grass gets long, the bottom doesn't get sunlight and loses its colour. This is often the cause of brown spots after cutting.

🔧 Weekly mowing also puts less stress on your mower and extends the lifespan of your blades.

Yes — aeration is one of the best things you can do for your lawn. It alleviates soil compaction, which allows air, water, and nutrients to reach the grass roots more effectively. This promotes stronger, healthier roots and a more robust, lush lawn.

Aeration also reduces thatch buildup, improves drainage, and helps your lawn handle heat and drought better. It's especially beneficial for lawns with heavy foot traffic or clay-heavy soil.

All of our seasonal cleanup packages include aeration. See our packages.

This is extremely common and definitely frustrating. To fix already damaged grass, rake out the dead material, add a small amount of topsoil, and reseed each spot. Water twice a day for one month, then cut back to once a day.

There are also products available that can help prevent burning from occurring in the first place:

We'd be happy to help — whether you want to rejuvenate what you have or start completely fresh. Keep in mind it can take up to two years to fully repair a lawn to its former glory.

🌱 Starting fresh: Remove the existing lawn, apply topsoil or screened loam, level it out, then roll out sod or spread seed.
⏱️ Seed vs. sod: Seed takes time to establish. If you want that fresh lawn look in two weeks, we strongly recommend sod.

Trees

Water consumption varies from species to species. Poplars, willows, and birch trees are among those that require a lot of water — though there are cultivars specifically bred to reduce water requirements.

💧 As a general rule, water at least once a day for 10 to 20 minutes along the tree's drip line. This promotes a healthy tree that can fight off illness, repair wounds, and bloom at its best.

Our Services

We service Calgary, Airdrie, and surrounding areas. If you're outside of those areas, contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate.

We understand life gets busy — but so do our schedules. Please ensure your lawn has been cleaned up before we arrive.

⚠️ There will be a non-negotiable additional charge on your invoice if we are required to pick up dog poop. If there is an excessive amount, service may be denied and you will be billed for our time.
